Keep in mind

Keep in mind…

  • that Dubai is a transient place where staff come and go and yesterday’s success is no guarantee for tomorrow and vice-versa!
  • that Dubai (a very tolerant Emirate) is part of a Muslim country.

Please respect the UAE culture and customs!

  • that women should dress modestly when in public areas like shopping malls. Clothes should cover the tops of the arms and legs, and underwear should not be visible. Swimming attire should be worn only on beaches or at swimming pools. When out and about in Dubai I experience jaw-dropping moments almost every time due to the way some people dress.

Please respect the UAE dress code!

  • that public displays of affection are frowned upon, and there have been several arrests for kissing in public.
  • that sex outside marriage is illegal and if any offenders are brought to the attention of the UAE authorities they run the risk of prosecution, imprisonment and/or a fine and deportation.
  • that it’s against the law to live together or to share the same hotel room with someone of the opposite sex to whom you are not married or closely related.
  • that same sex marriages are not recognised.
  • that homosexual relationships are illegal.
  • that driving under the influence of alcohol is an absolute NO GO!
